Ultra-Broadband Metallic Mirrors
Avantier is a well-established custom optics manufacturer with over two decades of experience in North America. We specialize in producing high-precision ultra-broadband metallic mirrors tailored to meet specific customer specifications. Here are the key features and details about these mirrors:
Key Features of Ultra-Broadband Metallic Mirrors:
- High Reflectance Over a Broad Spectral Range: These mirrors are designed to provide high reflectivity across a wide spectral bandwidth. They effectively reflect light over a broad range of wavelengths, making them versatile for various applications.
- Enhanced Reflectance in the Visible Range: These mirrors are optimized to provide enhanced reflectance in the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum, making them ideal for applications requiring high reflectivity within the visible light spectrum.
- Effective Over Wide Angles of Incidence: Ultra-broadband metallic mirrors maintain their high reflectance properties even when light strikes them at wide angles of incidence, ensuring consistent performance across different viewing angles.
- Standard Diameters: These mirrors are available in standard diameters ranging from 12.7 mm (0.5 inches) to 50.4 mm (2 inches), making them suitable for integration into various optical systems and setups.
Coating Options
Avantier offers three different metallic coating options
for these mirrors, each with unique spectral characteristics:
- Aluminum: Aluminum coating provides a good general-purpose mirror with high reflectance in the visible range. It is commonly used for applications that require reflection within the visible spectrum.
- Silver: Silver-coated mirrors offer very high reflectance over the visible and near-infrared range, making silver an excellent choice when maximum reflectivity is needed in these wavelength regions.
- Gold: Gold coating is the preferred choice for infrared (IR) applications, especially at wavelengths greater than 2 microns. Gold-coated mirrors are well-suited for IR imaging and sensing applications.
These mirrors undergo a manufacturing process that begins with the application of a reflective metal film, followed by the addition of a dielectric overcoat. This dielectric coating serves a dual purpose: it protects the underlying reflective metal layer while simultaneously enhancing the mirror’s overall reflectivity and performance.
