Laser Line Filters

Avantier specializes in crafting precision laser line bandpass filters with advanced performance characteristics tailored for specific laser sources. These filters feature a highly reflective side that enhances signal clarity and contrast by blocking unwanted background radiation and ambient light. With superior blocking glass and epoxies, Avantier’s laser line bandpass filters maintain exceptional environmental stability, even under thermal load, making them ideal for applications such as fluorescence instrumentation and medical laser systems. The filters offer ultra-high peak transmission and a narrow bandwidth, while their carefully selected index of refraction ensures precise control over the angle of incidence. Additionally, Avantier provides edge filters and notch filters for specialized light rejection needs. Custom orders are welcomed to meet unique application requirements.

Purpose of Laser Line Filters

  • Laser line filters are precision optical filters with narrow passbands designed to work at specific laser wavelengths.
  • They are used to prevent signal distortion, increase image contrast, and eliminate undesirable background radiation and ambient light in various applications.

Applications

  • Laser-based fluorescence instrumentation
  • Raman spectroscopy and other analytical instruments
  • Medical laser systems

Characteristics of Avantier’s Laser Line Filters

  • Ultra high peak transmission, typically greater than 90%.
  • Excellent blocking capability (optical density > 5.0) within ±1% of the laser wavelength.
  • Narrow bandwidth with a typical Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) of less than 0.38% of the laser wavelength.

Applications

  • Laser-based fluorescence instrumentation
  • Raman spectroscopy and other analytical instruments
  • Medical laser systems

Features

  • Filters are dielectric-coated using Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS) technology, ensuring environmental stability and a long lifespan.
  • Temperature stability with a center wavelength shift of less than 0.02 nm per degree Celsius.
  • The center wavelength of the filter can be fine-tuned by adjusting the angle of incidence of the laser beam, using the formula provided in the text.
